It's kind of a contrast to Dawkins' "Greatest Show on Earth", Flannery is a proponent of the Gaia view of the world, as opposed to Dawkins' reductionist, "ultra-Darwinist" approach. I got pretty depressed reading this (climate change is only one of many problems he points out), and there was not much hopeful at the end.
