I was thoroughly disappointed with this book. It's just over 400 pages, most of which break down the composition of something called Phyto-caps. I'm still new at herbals but I don't understand this book AT ALL. Pages 36-357 break down several dozen various formulas of "phyto-caps" into their composite herbs and then gives a brief description of each component and it's application in the formula but not the 'dosage' of each herb. As an example - kava kava is cited in 10 different places and it's description in each formula is different.
There is a certain amount of useful information that can be gleaned from this book and each formula has a thorough list of references - I would guess these references back up the composition of the formula but I haven't followed up that far yet. There are two chapters at the back of the book that I found useful; chapters 8 and 9 discuss specific indications; and conditions, contradictions and drug interactions - though I'm concerned that these are incomplete lists.
If you use phyto-caps then this will be a useful reference but if you're looking for general information on herbals I would go with something else.
