Not one of my favorites by Catherine Coulter, but she is always worth reading.
This is the story of Ryder Sherbrooke, Douglas's younger brother (The Sherbrooke Bride). Ryder is a fun loving young rake with a secret. The young girl that he meets when he travels to Jamaica hides secrets of her own. Sophia has successfully controlled every man in her orbit until she meets Ryder, a man she knows immediately is different from the others. This is the third novel in the Bride Trilogy.
Catherine Coulter is always good, whether it's romance or FBI thrillers. This is book 2 of 3.
Ryder Sherbrooke is a fun-loving rake with a secret. When he travels to Jamaica to solve the mystery of the supernatural goings-on at the Sherbrooke sugar plantation, he finds another mystery as well-a sophisticated nineteen-year old girl, Sophia Stanton-Greville, who wants to bed him. And not, he believes, because she is simply enthralled with his handsome slef or his boundless charm.
Sophia has successfully controlled every man in her orbit until she meets Ryder Sherbrooke, a man she knows immediately is different from the others, a man she sees as one of hell's own sons. Ryder, confident as only a successful rake can be when it comes to knowing women, sets out to teach her who is in charge. It's said she already has three lovers. Is she indeed the outrageous tease she appears? A seductress? Or is she an innocent with an ugly and terrifying secret?
As to Ryder's secret, you will see. You will also meet Doughlas and Alexandra Sherbrooke from the Sherbrooke Bride; Sinjun Sherbrooke; and the Virgin Bride. The Heiress Bride, the third novel in the Bride Trilogy, will feature Sinjun Sherbrook and Colin Kinross, an impoverished Scottish Earl, who does his best to sink the unsinkable Sinjun.
This was a great read! I very much enjoyed the Bride Trilogy and how the characters interacted in each of the books.

second book in the bride novels
I rate all Catherine Coulter books excellent usually. I love her writing style and storylines. In, The Hellion Bride, Ryder Sherbrooke is a fun-loving rake with a secret. This second sequel follows, The Sherbrooke Bride. The third in the trilogy is, The Heiress Bride.
You will certainly want to read them all once you have started.

This book was hard to read because when it comes down to it Ryder takes an extremely physically abused women and take away all her sense of independence and power by raping her repeatedly. Yes, he was gentle about it. But he still forced himself on her. So if you can stomach that, the book was filled with fun characters and interesting antics. I did finish the book because I liked Sophie but there were a lot of parts that I found disgusting.
I ejoyed this 2nd entry in the Bride Trilogy
An all time favorite of time! I have read it over a dozen times!
This book will make you laugh and cry all at once. But the main charactor will win your heart. The author did an excellent joy of making her into a proper lady(or so his lordship thought). The book is very enjoyable.
