Heirloom Machine Sewing for Quilters has great instructions and clear step-by-step photos to create 12 different techniques. Most involve lace.
There are 9 projects (with nice photographs) that list the techniques used, supplies needed, cutting and assembly instructions - but for the most part you need to refer to the technique section in the beginning of the book to complete particular blocks.
The quilts are beautiful, but most are in a pastel color range. The few projects in bold colors do give a nice idea how these techniques could work for anything but busy prints.
My favorites were the Cathedral Lace Windows and the Seminole Lacework.
