This Star Wars series is by a Hugo Award winning author, much better than the average run of the Star Wars books.

Its the original Star Wars expanded universe book, what else can I say? A lot actually. This is the book that started off all the most recent Star Wars books you're reading today. This was the first book authorized by George Lucas. In my opinion this series was also the best. Almost all the characters in this book are later used in other Star Wars novels, which I think says a lot about Zahn's writing. All the books in this series are very worthwhile reads, with the Last Command being my favorite.
