HEIR TO THE DUKE (The Duke's Sons #1) is a novel of a couple's period of adjustment in which they learn about themselves and each other, told with a touch of humor and written in well crafted prose. I can empathize about Violet's oppressive upbringing (something some people never break free of), and with Nathaniel's perhaps excessive sense of duty and family responsibility. Only one element troubled me and that was the maid Renshaw -- I did think she was a tiny bit over the top. That said, the family dynamics in this story were well thought out and credible, and I was rooting for the central couple to prevail.
