another good one in the saga of Cork O'Connor--a plane with his wife, Jo, on it crashed in the area known as Heaven's Keep.

The first part of the book is just about the search for her and I thought if this is all this book is about then it'd be boring BUT into part 2 is where the story really takes off and you won't want to put it down.

Always a great read. When is Krueger coming out with a new one?

Book Description
Intrepid hero Cork O'Connor faces the most harrowing mission of his life when a charter plane carrying his wife, Jo, goes missing in a snowstorm over the Wyoming Rockies.

Months after the tragedy, two women show up on Cork's doorstep with evidence that the pilot of Jo's plane was not the man he claimed to be. It may not be definitive proof, but it's a ray of light in the darkness. Agreeing to investigate, Cork travels to Wyoming, where he battles the interference of local law enforcement who may be on the take, the open hostility of the Northern Arapaho, who have much to lose if the truth is known, and the continuing attempts on his life by assassins who shadow his every move. At the center of all the danger and deception lies the possibility that Jo's disappearance was not the end of her, that somewhere along the labyrinthine path of his search, maybe even in the broad shadow of Heaven's Keep itself, Cork will find her alive and waiting for him.

My Review
This series is so good that I just want to keep devouring these books. I felt so sorry for Cork and his family when Jo went missing. All I know is that I have to start reading the next book very soon in order to see what's going to happen next. No spoilers from me - you must pick up these books and read them for yourself. You will not be disappointed!

Been trying to read the whole Cork O'Connor series. So far have enjoyed them all. Of all, this book would probably be at the bottom of the list for liking it, not saying that I didn't like it.

I liked the plotting in the previous 8 in this series, but I have started to dislike Cork O'Connor. He says one thing but does another. Krueger has kept him consistent through the series, so this must be an important part of the character, but it's irritating to me. The initial chapters kept me glued to this book, although there's quite a few bits that seem really implausible. Like the rich developer guy. He just takes off from his life to follow Cork around looking for his wife? He's made of money, why didn't he hire bodyguards for them? And then there's the ending which had me snorting in disbelief. Yeah, SURE they did that. Still, there's enough good stuff that I'll try the next in the series.

I am going out on a limb and saying this is the best book I have ever read in my life. First though I must tell you to get the full effects of this book, read the first in the series. Then all the others subsequent, in the Cork O'Connor series by William Kent Krueger, thus leading up to "Heaven's Keep" to capture the full effects! It is difficult writing a review on this book without being a spoiler. I will say it heavily involves Cork's wife, of previous series Jo O'Connor and that is all I am going to say about the story told. I have come to know and love all of the O'Connor family in the previous books along with other main characters such as Jo's sister Rose, Ojibwe friend Henry Meloux, and countless others, heck even the dog's Walleye and Trixie have character! You come to look for them in this series of books. Now with "Heaven's Keep" all of my emotion's are released as I read this book, and it got the full charge of my emotion's flowing, and range from nail biting suspense to true caring and sorrow/heartbreak for some of the character's, as Krueger has no doubt solidly developed them in my mind!! Krueger has given me so much enjoyment and involvement in my reading corner again and truly brought that part of my life alive again. If you need a jump start on your bookshelf, I suggest giving Krueger a try he is amazing and well deserved of praise at his craft of penning a story!!
