Elizabeth R. (esjro) - , reviewed Heartbreak Is the National Anthem: How Taylor Swift Reinvented Pop Music on + 950 more book reviews
Full disclosure: I am a Taylor Swift fan. I wouldn't say that I'm a Swiftie, but I've followed her career and enjoyed her albums and was lucky to attend The Eras tour.
Rob Sheffield is obviously a fan too. In this book he outlines Taylor's career and the public responses to her albums and going ons in her private life. There are some chapters, notably those discussing Folklore and Evermore, when all pretense of objectivity is abandoned and he just gushes about the brilliance of her lyrics. This book will not win Taylor any new fans (which is fine - getting tickets to The Eras was grueling enough!) but those who appreciate her music will enjoy this short book.
