Gwen Proctor and her family have moved to Knoxville for a new start. Gwen receives a call from her friend, Detective Kezia Claremont. Kez asks her to help on a strange case she is working on. A car was found submerged in a pond in a remote area. The bodies of two little girls were found in their car seats. There is no sign of the driver. Identification left in the car shows it was owned by Sheryl Landsdown, the mother of twin girls. Did Sheryl drive the car into the lake to kill her children? Or did someone kidnap Sheryl and try to get rid of the evidence? Kez asks Gwen to help her track down Sheryl's past. But as Gwen digs for information, she discovers that the killer who targeted Sheryl has now turned his sights on Gwen herself.
This is another winner in the Stillhouse Lake series. I don't know how Rachel Caine comes up with so many twists and turns in these books. I just keep turning the pages and saying "one more chapter", but when I finish that chapter, I just can't stop there. I love this series and highly recommend it. My rating: 5 Stars.

Huge let down--too slow and at times just boring

This is the last book in the series as the author lost her battle with cancer last November. A car is submerged in a pond with 2 little girls in the backseat. The mother has vanished but Gwen and Kezia will search for her. There are 3 POVâs & we learn a lot more about Kezia. Full of action, suspense and good twists. I highly recommend this series and I would like to thank Thomas and Mercer Publishers and NetGalley for a free copy for a honest review.
