A sexy love story! Molly Somerville loves her career as the creator of the Daphne the Bunny children's book series, but the rest of her life could use some improvement. She has a reputation for trouble that started even before she gave away her fifteen-million-dollar inheritance. Then there's her long-term crush on the quarterback for the Chicago Starts football team her sister owns---that awful, gorgeous Kevin Tucker, a man who can't even remember Molly's name.

I'm a very tough critic so most of my friends give this book more praise than I do, but... This author is interesting. Real life romance - no Dukes and Duchesses - no time travel here...I'm usually more interested in supernatural fantasy/horror or sci-fi mixed in with my romances...but, I have to give this author credit, she has a knack for really making you feel for the characters.

As usual, Phillips writing is fun, funny, and fast paced. She never hits a wrong note. As a woman who hasn't seen a super bowl in twenty years, I can attest to the fact that she made me love the game and those great big men who play in them.

Just great story of childrens writer and football player. If you've read 'Nobody But You', it's a followup with Pheobe's sister Molly. I love how she starts each chapter with a quote from her childrens books.

Character Molly Somerville (a writer of childrens stories) goes after Kevin Tucker (qb for football team). Opposites attract right?

Grade = B-

This Heart of Mine is part of Susan Elizabeth Phillip's Chicago Stars series. Molly Somerville is the younger half sister to Phoebe Calebow the owner of the Chicago Stars football team. Molly has had a long time crush on the quarterback Kevin Tucker, yet he has no idea she exists. To most people Molly outwardly seems like a woman who is sensible and kind and conservative. But actually Molly has these periods when a little chaos and impulsive behavior leads her into trouble. One such period occurs when Molly finds Kevin Tucker at the Calebows vacation home unexpectedly. Molly's behavior leads to some very dire consequences which eventually lead Molly and Kevin unning a camp for vacationers, which is where Kev and Molly learn about each other and fall in love.

This Heart of Mine out of the books I have read by SEP has to be my least favorite. It's a testament to SEP's writing that I gave this book a B- rating as the writing is really good, but Molly was a really hard character to like. I was absolutely appalled at her behavior towards Kevin at the beginning of the book. For those of you who have already read this book know what I am referring too, for those of you who haven't I will be vague because I don't want any spoilers in this review. (You can always email me if you want details. I'll be happy to divulge those to you personally.)

Despite Molly's despicable behavior, if you can move past it the rest of the book is actually quite entertaining and a love story finally unfolds. I liked that Kevin eventually unwraps this quirky spontaneous side to Molly and loves her that much more for it. There is also a secondary romance between Kev's Mom and a reclusive artist at the camp. SEP just makes all these quirky characters come to life and they are a treat to read about. If you can get past Molly's cringe-worthy behavior in the beginning then you'll probably be able to enjoy the book.

I loved this book! Well, so far the whole Chicago Stars series has rocked. This was so fun with all the ups and downs that go with starting your own business and falling in love and having girlfriends. A great fun read.

This was my first SEP book, and I fell in love with the book. One of the Chicago Stars series, This Heart of Mine follows Molly Summerville and Kevin Tucker's story. I found this book funny, captivating, and endearing; Susan Elizabeth Phillips is great because her characters are real, funny, and will charm the reader like no other author.

For vivid characters, great dialogue, and sexy courtship, no one does Romance better than Susan Elizabeth Phillips. And she's funny too; some of her dialogue makes me laugh out loud, which isn't something I usually do.

Another enjoyable read from Susan Elizabeth Phillips. I didn't like the main characters as much, but that didn't take away from my appreciation of Phillips' writing and storytelling.

Phillips at her best, the story is centered around the sister of Phoebe Somerville, of a previous book. Yummy h/h, full of life.

Awesome read, I couldn't put it down. The cover makes it look old fashion but it's an up-to-date, modern relationships story.

Children's book author Molly Somerville is the half-sister of Phoebe Calebow, owner of the Chicago Stars Football Team. Molly has had a crush on Quarterback Kevin Tucker for years, but he doesn't even know her name. When Molly travels to her sister's vacation cabin to write her next book, she finds Kevin who is there for some rest and relaxation. Molly's long buried stream of impulsive behavior takes over her brain and she jumps into Kevin's bed while he is sleeping. This leads to consequences neither of them expected.

I love Susan Elizabeth Phillips' Chicago Stars series, but this book is not a favorite. Molly's actions in the first half of the book are terrible. I had a real problem with this character and her behavior. Luckily, SEP is a brilliant writer and turned that character around in the second half of the book. Molly and Kevin are stuck together in the second half of the book, running a summer camp for vacationers. Kevin inherited the camp from a family member and it is the last place he wants to be. As Kevin and Molly get to know each other and let down their guard, we are given a very entertaining love story. This story is very satisfying if you can get past Molly's behavior in the beginning of the book. My rating 4 Stars.

While I did enjoy the book overall, I found myself having to say, "I guess I'll read this" rather than diving back into it... I agree with another reviewer in saying that the heroine was a bit of a flake, while the hero seemed to be a much better person. I also feel that the author kind of glosses over the whole "heroine "rapes" hero theme" and acts as if this is acceptable... that was a bit disturbing to me. I did enjoy the excerpts from the heroine's children's books... some of the book's funniest parts, IMO.

SPOILER ALERT:

I had a hard time with this book because the relationship between Kevin and Molly didn't click for me. On top of that Phillips kind of downplayed Molly's rape of Kevin and her lies about the pregnancy. It was really hard to have respect for either Kevin or Molly. He was so severely emotionally stunted as well. And why did they have to get married again? Molly does become better but their relationship is pretty much based on how to manipulate each other.

I did finish the book. It was okay but I wouldn't recommend it. I found the Daphne and Benny excerpts the best part of the book.

This Heart of Mine contained excellent dialogue per usual of Phillips. However, the heroine was a flake at best.
