Set in Norway, story involves two mothers, two daughters, one heart.

Allison loses her only child to a drowning accident where Allison was supposed to be watching but fell asleep. In their grief, she and husband agree to donate daughter's organs.

Iselin is a single mom whose daughter Kaia desperately needs heart replacement. She's been ill most of her life, so this donor heart is a miracle.

Allison can't cope with her grief and guilt so with help of step-son she finds out who received her daughter's heart. And the story takes off!!

Well written, even tho chapters flip between characters, easy to follow. Some bad decisions made along the way, an intriguing book overall.

Wow! Alex Dahl has found a way to put into words the intense emotions of grief, anger, pain, guilt and numbness that comes with losing a loved one. I literally felt every word of this book to the point that I had to stop reading and take a few deep breaths. Particularly the fact that I am dealing with the loss of a loved one and the manner and date of death was too similar. While my loved one was not able to donate organs, this story focuses on a mother dealing with the loss of a young daughter (trigger) and pours her intense grief into what remains of her daughter through her organ donation and the recipient of her heart - another young girl.

At times I found myself frustrated with the main character, Alison, and her inability to pull herself together and find the helps she needs. I just wanted her to find peace, comfort and people to support her.

This book will pull at your heart strings and you will feel the gut wrenching pain associated with grief. I enjoyed the book, even if it was hard for me to read.
