Doig is one of my favorite authors, although occasionally he produces a klinker. His first book, an autobiography called "This House of Sky", was extraordinary, and this book is a prequel to it, mainly covering the life of his mother.

His Montana Trilogy is also outstanding, although it runs out of gas in the last book. "Bucking the Sun" is another 5 star effort. This book, however, while interesting, is not his best work. I'm offering it as a swap because I need the shelf space for more unforgettable stories.
