I love this book!! This is one of the best books on Autism, ADHD, Allergies, and Asthma. If you have a loved one diagnosed with one of these conditions get this book. It's useful, easily undertood, and based on proven scientific evidence. I love this book so much that I wouldn't part with my copy. Mine is a well-thumbed copy that I refer to repeatedly. All four of the disorders mentioned are treatable. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Dr. Bock explains in layman's terms how modern toxins, nutritional deficiencies, metabolic imbalances, genetic vulnerabilities, result in those disorders. He has case studies. He provides a wealth of information of safe and effective options for parents and physicians working together to improve the health of people affected by the 4-As.

I TRULY believe this book SAVED my daughter's life!!
My daughter, Olivia was diagnosed at 18 months as being Autistic with ADD. This came about after a year of constant ear, nose and lung infections and her first 6 months of "colic." On her first birthday we had her tested for allergies and found that the only thing she was allergic to was the entire egg. (Most people are allergic to only part of the egg.) We took a couple months to rid egg from her diet and the autistic signs that we had noticed loud and clear started to disappear.
She had MAJOR Sensory integration which made it almost impossible to leave the house with her. The wind was always too strong, the lights whether inside or out were always too brite, she would wrinkle her nose and gasp over smells and loud was always LOUD. She wanted me to hold her at all times. We were starting to wonder is she had hearing problems because she would act deaf at times when we would ask her to do something. She knew her name and would respond to that but she didn't "get" a lot of things we tried to tell her. She was a year old and still barely made "goo goo ga ga" types of sounds. She hadn't said MaMa or DaDa yet. We had pretty much figured out her triggers which is why we were limited on our time outside of the home. Meltdowns were SO bad. :O( During this time my mother discovered THIS book at a Border's bookstore and bought it and brought it to me. It described Olivia and everything that we were going through! We brought her in for allergy testing and discoverd her TRUE "triggers." Once the egg was officially out of her diet she immediately started talking about MaMa and DaDa. She picked up on puzzles and could work even more difficult then the standard one year old wooden puzzles. She began to recognize the vowels everywhere we went, then the numbers 1-10. Before long she was counting and sorting out her toys in to groups of colors and amounts. She knew the colors and shapes. We took her in for her 16 month MMR shot and explained to the doctors about her egg allergy and how she couldn't have anything with egg. Within minutes of receiving this shot she changed. She started crying non-stop which lasted for a week and during that week she lost all of her new knowledge. She could no longer work her puzzles. She stopped singing and dancing and using her words. All she did was cry and cry. I researched the shot and low and behold it has egg in it! It took about a month to two months to get her back. She has been tested and retested and they no longer believe her to have Autisim OR ADD. She is a happy, healthy and smart little girl!
