The authors is a strong advocate of careful use of x-rays, despite the realization of the damage suffered by users in the 20thC. There are excellent illustrations. I found that of the dentist holding the film in his unprotected hand against the mouth of the patient and the one of the fluoroscope in shoe stores especially poignant.
