Fabulous second book to Talyn. Hawkspar is a Tonk who was kidnapped at a very young age and sold to the The Order of the Ossalenes with many other Tonk girls. Aaron is a Tonk sailor determined to rescue as many kidnapped Tonk as possible, as his sister was kidnapped, their family killed and their village burned. Through magic Hawkspar has sent a message into the sea. As a sailor with magic as well, Aaron receives her message. He attempts to convince his captain to take the full fleet of Tonk wolf-ships to rescue the kidnapped women. His captain calls him a fool. Aaron and his cousin Tuua buy a ship that was rescued from the bottom of the sea and assemble a rag tag crew. With some maps and a ships log given them by the ship builder they bought the ship from, they set off on their mission. I could not quit reading this book and read it through. I realized that I was smiling most of the time as the prose of the author are beautiful There were so many changes of emotion: sad, happy, fear, elation and love. The ending was satisfying. I would love to read more about this world of the Tonk.
