While I certainly enjoyed this book, as I do most of Tremayne's novels, this was another one 'solved' according to his formula. By this I mean that Sister Fidelma assembles all the characters together at the end to relate how she solved who the guilty parties are.

And it wasn't hard to figure out one of the reasons for the murders, as that 'reason' has become quite common in this series.

Initially, Sister Fidelma was out of action with a fever, and Brother Eadulf was leading the investigation. I thought it was about time he had his "day in the sun." But then Fidelma got better and took over.

Also, fans of this pair will be somewhat shocked at the very end.

12th in the Sister Fidelma series of well-researched, interestingly presented historical mysteries.
