I found this book to be very well researched, well written and a fascinating account of Hattie McDaniel's life and career. A different look at the entertainment industry and the challenges faced by African American entertainers when a Jim Crow mindset proliferated. Recommend this book to anyone interested in Black history and the film industry in the first half of the 20th century.
