This is book two of the Tiffany Aching Series.

Many details and understandings you need to fully apreciate this book
come from reading Wee Free Men First! So for max enjoyment, read
them in order.

The next book after this one is Wintersmith.

Warning: Reading Terry Pratchett novels can be addicting,
and can start you on a quest that may involve reading up
wards of 50 books. Not for the faint of heart or those on
Death row you won't have the time.

Much better than "Wee Free Men," the first book in this series. Pratchett's humor (and puns) was much more evident, as well as his plot twists and lessons in humanity for all of us.

I truly believe that these books, the Tiffany Aching saga, are Terry Pratchetts best Discworld books. In fact, you dont really need to know anything about Discworld in order to enjoy these books. The Feegles, or Wee Free Men, that we met in Book 1 are back in Book 2, causing mayhem, misdirection, and the occasional questionable humor. I believe the humorous and serious notes of this book are even better balanced than Book 1, The Wee Free Men. Tiffany is 11 in this book, and her grandmother has been dead and buried for some years, yet she still has a strong presence in Tiffanys mind. Mistress Weatherwax, who showed up at the end of Book 1, has a much greater role in Book 2, and there is even bonding over pickles and voles. Indeed, Tiffany has a lot to learn and this adventure takes her up against the wall to find out how strong she is.

Another delightful tale from Pratchett. Tiffany Aching is a real winner!

From back cover: Witch-in-training Tiffany Aching hadn't expected magic to involve chores and ill-tempered nanny goats! But as Tiffany pursues her calling, a sinister monster pursues her, and neither Mistress Weatherwax (the greatest witch in the world) nor the six-inch-high Wee Free Men (the greatest thieves in the world) can defeat it. When the monster strikes, Tiffany will have to save herself--if she can be saved at all!

Somewhat of the more junior escapades from the Discworld, but thouroughly Pratchett!
