A fun fantasy novel with all the goodies - jinns, princesses, an epic journey, beautiful women and magicians.
Hasan was one of Anthony's earliest published works. A work that took a number of years to find a publisher that would buy the work. He admits that this work is a further enhancement of a portion of his university thesis. It was an enjoyable read which left me wanting to share further adventures with Hasan, his adopted family of seven royal sisters, his bird suited wife, and his two sons. As I read, the character development of Hasan was well done, though separated by many centuries, could have been the incarnation of the ancient epic tales of Sin-bad.
The story begins a bit choppy and goes from scene to scene rather abruptly at times, so abruptly one needed to turn the page back and reread a paragraph or two to make sure I didn't miss something. Hasan lacks the Anthony style and sophistication of his Mode, Incarnations of Immortality, and Apprentice Adept series. It also lacks the formulary quality and barrage of literary puns of the Xanth series, both enjoyably so.
I highly recommend this book both for fans of Piers Anthony's works and for those interested in stories of fantasy and adventure. Those die-hard Anthony fans will find a story with a different pace then they are used to, but this is a good thing. Those who are not quite Anthony fans yet may find themselves transformed into fans because of the reading.

Hey, it's a Piers Anthony; it's gotta be good!
This is possibly one of Piers Anthony's better books. It's an adaptation of one of the Tales from the Arabian Nights. Beautifully told, it reads like a fairy tale.
Another Piers Anthony fantasy--this one inhabited by jinns and afretes and the bird woman Sana. Not to be missed. In good condition
