Repairman Jack's girlfriend Gia is expecting a baby, so Jack is going to get an identity and no longer live on the fringes of society. Or is he? If you are a Repairman Jack fan this is a thrilling story. If you don't know Repairman Jack, I would advise reading some of the earlier books in this series to fully appreciate the depth and intelligence of this man.
In my mind this is the best of the Repairman Jack series to date- dealing almost exclusively with Jack and his new family rather than focusing on the repair job, we learn more about the game between the The Adversary and The Ally and finally learn Jack's assigned role. Of course, Jack has never played well with others and the 2 factions seem, for all of their power, to have forgotten to take that into account.
I'm a "BIG repairman Jack fan but this one was a little slow, the plot against his loved ones just seemed like a pretext for his next book which will be when he REaLLY does battle with the otherness.
I can't say this is my favorite, but then I love every single book in the series- no favorites. LOL This book is just as good as all the others. Jack has so much depth, the secondary characters are real and the dialogue and descriptions are just right- neither overpowers the book.
There is a lot of Jack action, and we learn more about the Otherness and Ally. And more about Jack's role in all of this. I'm trying not to give anything of the story away, but WOW I just love this series.
