Helpful Score: 1
A satisfying and often shocking mystery, thick with greed, guilt, lust...the unflappable Blackie Ryan could definately become habit-forming.
witty and quick moving.
Father Blackie Ryan mystery: (from back cover) The wise and witty priest from Greeley's bestseller, Virgin and Martyr is back with his own series of novels. A monsignor now, gray, eminence to Cardinal Sean Cronin, and rector of the Cathedral, Blackie is assigned to protect the haunted Quinlan family from a plague of tragedy, murder, devil worship, and messages from beyone the grave.
This is the first Blackie Ryan as detective book and is not as well written as the later ones. The mysteries get better by the time you read the fourth or fifth one.
