An excellent read. Berry's writing flows easily through Hannah Coulter's story of her life. Through Berry's writing, Hannah Coulter shares the changing seasons of life; she tells many stories, some of happiness, sadness. She shares knowledge gathered through living a life of living & to have lived. Her voice through Berry's writing will easily settle you into reading the book. A must read.

Another one of Wendell Berry's novels about people who live in the little town of Port William, Kentucky. Readers familiar with Nathan and Burly Coulter will want to read about Hannah as well.

This is a gentle memoir of a matriarch in her late 70's. It is set in Port William, Kentucky from WWII to the present, and tells how the town and its people change with the times. Hannah's spirituality flows through her life and stories of family and friends.
