From back cover: A prominent animal researcher has been hanged. And suspicion has fallen on the Cat Lady - a local biology professor whose obsession with rescuing strays makes her, in some people's minds, capable of murder in defense of animals. But China is a friend of the Cat Lady, and she doesn't agree. This may have been an act of pure human aggression...

The first two books in this series didn't "wow" me, but appealed enough for me to try two more. Last night I finished this (the third), started the fourth this morning, and am now searching for the next few. I guess I'm hooked! Pretty good mysteries, good characters and community being established over the series. The main continuing characters are folks I'd enjoy having as neighbors and friends.
Fast read
Another in the China Bayles series. Someone hanged a prominent animal researcher and of course the first suspect is the Cat Lady. She is a local professor with an obsession with rescuing stray cats. This makes her a prime suspect in some peoples eyes but not China's. She doesn't think it had anything to do with the animals at all.
good read
I'm not a fan of mystery at all, but I really enjoy this whole serious. Mixing herbal magic, intuition and a few murders, Albert knows how to tell a few good stories.
I love learning about plants, as I always to in this series. I love the way Susan's mind works through mysteries and relationships. I enjoy reading about my home state and places I know and love.
I have read the first two books in this series and was looking forward to reading this book. I was not disappointed at all...the story was exciting, the characters continued from the 2 previous books and there was a little romance included...Yippee for this series. I'd recommend it to any one who likes to read a great story.

China Bayles is a wonderful character....smart, witty and entirely her own woman.
Great book! Story line was interesting to the end. I love this series.
A great cozy mystery. I didn't figure out who did it. LOL
China Bayles Mystery #3. another great one by Albert. I really love her writing and her characters.
Part of the China Bayles series. She is an ex-high powered lawyer who has moved to small town Texas and opened an herb shop. More involving and better written than most series mysteries.
I LOVE this series. I have read them out of order, but have enjoyed each one I have read. I can't wait to finish them all. A quick read but very enjoyable.

Another enjoyable book in the series featuring ex-attorney now herb shop owner, China Bayles. Nicely drawn characters, well written, and it kept me guessing until the end. I'm very much enjoying this series!
Great book. I love the fact of not only enjoying a good read but also learning about herbs in the process
Great lighthearted mystery. Great characters, these books are addicting!
Amateur sleuth China Bayles is a former lawyer who now runs an herb shop and keeps getting involved in solving local murders. In this one, a prominent animal researcher is found hanged, and suspicion falls on a local biology professor with an obsession for rescuing stray cats.
This is one of the China Bayles mysteries. She is an herb shop proprieter who solves cases with a crazed friend.

Another good China Bayles mystery!
A China Bayles mystery. Have really enjoyed the series so far. Good read and great heroine.
China Bayles never disappoints. Her characters are fun and varied, the herbal information is useful and not overwhelming. Delectable as usual!
