I thought this book was awful. I love books and words and reading, so saying such a thing outright, that a book is just *bad*, is outside the norm for me. Usually, there's some redeeming factor (An interesting character, style of writing, etc), but this book. . . Ugh.

The characters were bland, the story was dull, and the writing was horribly contrived. Somehow, despite all the angst, I still felt like I was on the surface of the story, not being able to *really* get into the character's brains and lives. (Maybe because everyone was so one-dimensional? Who knows.)

Skip this one.

Despite what some other reviewers said, I believe ths is one of Block's best books.
