A young friend loaned me this book because I loaned her a book from my childhood that I had loved. I started out reading the book because of this, but ended up engrossed in the story. Ms Pearson crafted a rich storyline and the main character is easy to identify with for those that are reserved or shy. Even though this is geared towards younger readers, it was still much loved by this "old lady".
