I picked this book up to check off on a book challenge I've been working on this year - the PopSuger 2017 Reading Challenge - "A book set around a holiday other than Christmas." Okay, it fulfilled that requirement, it is set immediately leading up to, and on, Halloween which was the heroine's birthday and her brother's wedding - but it really had nothing to do with Halloween. (The Halloween wedding date did inspire the grooms to ask guests to dress up as an 80s movie character.)

Story line was good. The main character, Joey (Jolene) Silvia, is the successful head of marketing for Oahu Airlines and based in Honolulu. Her boyfriend of two years, Ben, is one of the company's vice presidents and splits his time between their offices in Honolulu and Los Angeles. On her way to her brother's wedding in Oregon, Joey plans an extended stopover in LA to surprise Ben. However, she is the one that is ultimately surprised when Ben's wife answers the door at Joey's knock. Joey realizes immediately that Ben has been hiding a wife and lying to her the entire time they've been together and she makes a hasty retreat to Oregon and the old family cabin on Mount Hood where she was supposed to stay until after the wedding (2 weeks hence). Arriving early, she finds the old cabin magically renovated, and the man responsible for that magic still on the premises. He is Chris Steffensen, her and her brother's high school friend. She also finds that remodeling isn't his only magical skill.

There wasn't enough focus on the storyline (other than great sex with her rebound boyfriend, Chris, over and over) for my tastes - maybe just not my cup of tea. HOWEVER, the writing is excellent! The sex scenes are done very, very well. Delightful dialogue and the repartee among all characters is wonderful.

I have requested the next book in the series right here on paperbackswap.com

Joey just found out that her boyfriend of 2 years is a lying, cheating, asshole. (He's married. And she didn't know. Had no clue, none). Her best friend's advice is to get laid and get laid now. Joey heads home a little early and runs into one of her best friends from high school, Chris. Chris (yes, you guessed it!) has been in love with Joey since high school.
I liked that the first to fall was Chris. The banter between the two of them was fun. The secondary characters: Kira, Dillon, Oscar were all likable and added to the story. I really liked this, not sure why this took so long for me to finish it. (2 days for just over 200 pages).
