I enjoy this author's writing so I knew that I would enjoy this story as well. And I did. It was a little departure from what I've come to expect because the suspense was not as high. I expected a killer to show up somewhere but that was not the tone of this story. I have to say that I enjoyed Tressa the most. Every time the girl showed up in a scene, she stole it!
Dr. Joy Gilbert would probably like a do-over in a lot of her decisions and relationships from the past year. She gets one when she's called back home due to a family emergency, and discovers her boss' daughter has stowed away in her car. It turns into a good opportunity for clearing up serious misunderstandings, and unraveling the tangled mess of her family, career and misguided faith. She faces some difficult situations with a lot of courage and conviction, finding healing for her own hurt in the process.
Fans of medical dramas and contemporary romance will probably enjoy this story. An interesting start to a new series.
