Another delightful mystery featuring Flavia de Luce. Although I should say, sadly, the mystery in this book is really not all that compelling. It could have been; having a film company use Buckshaw provides all sorts of opportunities for new characters - but I don't think it quite clicked into place. Having all the villagers there for Christmas Eve was interesting too, but they didn't play a big enough part.
So the attraction for me in this one is Flavia. She's in top form. The opening sequence left me giggling and it just gets better. Her plan to prove the existence of Santa Claus is so funny. You finally start getting some family feeling out of the sisters and maybe...maybe... there's a solution to the money problems.
Readers new to Bradley should start at the beginning of the series. Mystery readers who find it hard to overlook plot inconsistencies and need believable motives might be disappointed. But if you're willing to overlook that you'll have a good time.
