I really loved this book! The story is very artfully developed as well as the characters. Morag Joss creates characters to whom the reader can relate and really care about regardless of their crimes. Great read!

This is the best book I've read all year. I was immediately drawn in, and couldn't put it down. Original and unexpected, by turns heartbreaking and hopeful, I was deeply disturbed by my growing compassion for the criminals! I got caught up in hoping for a happy joyous ending, and only managed to catch myself out and face reality at the end. A psychological thriller that makes you question your own reflections - delicious!

Enjoyed this book very much. Written sometimes in first person, sometimes in third, a interesting look at what makes a family and how we as humans can lie to ourselves....and believe it!!

Did I enjoy this book? Yes, but it is not a happy read. Three very disfunctional people come together in unusual circumstances of their own design and what happens is also very much the result of their own decisions. The end is sad and inevitible. If you want a happy story, don't read this book, but if you enjoy exploring the whole range of human need and what some people may do to fill this need, then grab it and enjoy.

This story revolves around a lonely house sitter, Jean, who invites two other lost souls to share the house where she is staying until the owners return. As events unfold, the suspense builds and concludes in a way that is reminiscent of Ruth Rendell's writing.
