Another entertaining book by Jeanette Walls. A suggestion if you haven't read "The Glass Castle" and will be in the future, read "Half Broke Horses" first. Although it's not necessary, you'll acquire a clearer understanding of Jeanette's parents personalities, especially her mother.

The best book I've read in a long time. I really enjoyed Glass Castle but Half Broke Horses is my favorite of the two. Lily is such a strong female character. Laughed and cried during the story.

Lily Casey Smith was a spirited woman who was born in a dugout in west Texas, partnered with her husband to manage ranches in Arizona, taught in one room schools in remote villages, defied convention and generally did what she needed to do to live life with unusual fervor. Her story is true but is told in first person by her granddaughter, therefore technically is classified as fiction. Fiction or not, the story of this remarkable woman is unforgettable.
