Novel about the Roman Army maintaining a border wall between Britannia and Scotland. Includes an arranged marriage, political intrigues, a murder, several battles, Druid and Christian followers, and an interesting contrast between Roman customs, manners, and way of life and that of the so-called barbarians in northern Britain.

I enjoyed this book very much. I am a history freak and loved reading about my English, Scottish and Irish barbarian ancestors who painted themselves blue and worshipped the rocks and trees. Very interesting descriptions of the Romans and the 80 mile wall they built to contain the barbarian hoards of northern Brittania. William Dietrich writes a good story and is easy and interesting to read. I have ordered three more of his books! Geny
