Wow! This book started out slow and some what difficult and I almost gave up. After I looked up a few things and grasped a better understanding for the life styles of that time period it began to fall into place. I am so glad I continued it became quite mesmerizing and I could not turn the pages fast enough at times, but then had to slow down and reflect at other times. The process of pausing the current story line and unfolding events from the past was very fluid, but did require your attention. I recommend no skimming through this book. The ending left me perplexed and kept me thinking on what really was the ending.

This was my first experience with this author and hope to find more from her.

Chose this as my BOTM. Really liked the haunted house part of the story. The rest, not so much.
Having a little prior knowledge about the time period would have probably helped me enjoy it a little more.
