Set in the 1950s, this memoir was a wonderful description of a long-gone Hong Kong. Subtitled Memories of a Hong Kong Childhood, it's the story of a British boy's discovery of the fabled city while his father was stationed there. Time magazine described it as a "sunny, luminous account of a very special time and place."
