Add me to the long list of readers who adore this novel! If you haven't read The Guncle, add it to your TBR list now. The story is filled with humor, snark, grief, sadness, found family, biological family, and so much love.

In the midst of family tragedy, 40-ish retired(?) actor Patrick finds himself unexpectedly caring for his young niece and nephew at his luxurious home in Palm Springs. During their 90 days together, Patrick develops strong bonds with his niblings and processes his own grief.

I highly recommend reading this on audio It's narrated by its author Steven Rowley (pronounced roll-ee) who is outstanding at conveying so much personality to Patrick, Maisie, Grant, and the other characters in this delightful novel.

I had to see what all the hoopla was about. It was an enjoyable story: comedy, sadness, drama, all in one. Gay Uncle gets custody of two precocious children after their mother passes away and their father goes to rehab for three months. They totally settle into family life, while he obsesses about his career, his love life, and the lover who passed away.I liked it, but didn't LOVE it. Most books I have read this year, I loved!

The author did such a great job on what could have been just a slap-stick book. Such tenderness amidst the humor and sadness. Can't wait for the next one!
