If you enjoy Fern Michaels, you'll like this book. It's the story of two sisters who, after their parents both die on the same day, an apparent heart attack [mother] and self-inflicted gunshot wound [father], are taken in by the father's best friend to raise. Only problem-- the older sister is spoiled, mean and a holy terror, taking her spite out on her younger sister who happens to have a large birthmark on her face, making her the butt of a lot of mistreatment. How the two girls grow up and find each other again after years of separation is the basis for most of the plot, along with a strong murder mystery and a little romance added in.

The latest by Michaels (Celebration) is an eventful tale of sisterly love and simmering obsession. When their parents die suddenly under mysterious circumstances, five-year-old Abby Evans and her six-year-old sister, Mallory, are adopted by their dad's friend Donovan Mitchell and his new wife. Troubled Mallory is sent off to an institution and banished from the now-prosperous Mitchell family for more than a decade. Still missing her sister, Abby suffers yet another loss when her boyfriend, Connor, dies suddenly. The sisters are finally reunited in their early 20s, and Abby's life seems complete once again, with a wonderful new man, an opulent house and an instantly successful writing career. Trouble soon arises, however, when Mallory becomes convinced that their parents, along with Connor and several others, were actually murdered--and that Donovan Mitchell is the culprit.

great book hard to put down must read
An enjoyable read.
For the first time ever, Abby feels that the world is her oyster. Her first book has found a publisher, a daring new surgery promises to take away the birthmark that mars her lovely face, and there's a new man in her life, a man who sees beyond her flaw--into her heart.
Best of all, though, is that Abby has been reunited with her sister Mallory. Separated as girls after their parents died in a double tragedy, Abby always dreamded that, one day, they would be together again.
But while two loving sisters make up for lost time, danger hides in the shadows. Now, Abby and Mallory, have planned a sumptuous party--unaware that their gathering will include an uninvited guest who will do anything to keep the past hidde.

Born with a port wine stain that obscures half her face, Abby Mitchell is dogged by tragedy: her parents die, she is separated from her only sister, a surgical procedure to help her face fails, and her boyfriend croaks. Through all of this horror, she behaves like a saint and is eventually reunited with her sister, the so-called "bad seed." As it turns out, Mallory isn't all that bad, but she does have some disturbing revelations concerning the deaths that follow Abby around. When the sisters throw a fancy party to lure a murderer into the open, they get more than they bargained for. While some of the plot elements in this story are laughable (such as the repeated lack of autopsies on people dying under questionable circumstances) and the whining narration by Jen Taylor irritating, it's difficult to stop listening until the absolute end. Michaels's (Yesterday) message is that happiness often comes with a high price and everything does not always turn out well...something seldom seen in romances. A marginal purchase. Easy, quick read. Suspense.
The sisters plan a sumptous party and an uninvited guest does anything to keep the past hidden. Surprise ending.
This is a family story between sisters. It starts with death and ends with a life-affirming story, with mystery stops in between. I enjoyed it.
I loved this book! It is a page turner that keeps you going and make you not want to put the book down!
Wonderful book. I love all of Fern Michaels books. She has a special way of telling a story so you believe your there. 1-5 I give this book a 5.
A typical Fern Michaels romance for anyone who likes Fern Michael's style
I thought this was a great book. I read it straight through in 2 days.
Good read! The story of two sisters and the sinister \"past\" truths that are about to be revealed. Good read and not too heavy!
A best seller, a birth mark, a man and a sister, mix together and watch the pot boil.

I liked this book-- it was a good read with enough suspense to keep me interested.
I have read many Fern Michaels' books, and this one sounds good too. It is about two sisters reunited after many years apart. Someone doesn't want them to find out what happened in their past, and that's where the danger comes in.
Two sisters that find each other after being years apart.
Two sisters, separated for years following their parents' deaths, are reunited at last. Neither has any idea that danger is lurking in the shadows.
Loved this book!! I think I read it in one setting - or two at the most - very hard to put down and very engrossing!
Enjoyed the plot. Was easy to figure out, but still liked the book. Easy reading.
Twins are separated after their parents' death. One is evil and the other disfigured. However, who really is the evil one?
I loved this Fern book. Loved how even though two sisters drifted apart. They were willing to put all differences aside to make things work. Recommend this to all ladies that love mystery, romance & family relationships.

An intriguing story about two young sisters separated in childhood and then finding each other after they've grown. A good mystery.
This was a great little mystery, although I had it figured out, it was fun to see how it all came together
