I'm one of the people who reads this story and cringes - it is a story about making love into a competition which the child can never win.
There are over a dozen reviewers over at Amazon who also had this reaction to the book - while, as evidenced here, there are many more who love the book.
I'm always surprised that people don't have more empathy for the child in the story - and feel his defeat as he becomes exhausted trying to tell his parent how much he loves them, never to have the sentiment accepted - only outdone.
I honestly can't imagine a way in which this would be a positive story.

Whenever I read this book to my kids I cried! That last line, "I love you right up to the moon - and back." gets me every time.

One of the most endearing books. I tear up each time I read it. This book can serve as a great gift for expecting mothers also.

This book is the board book version, just as good as the original. Lots of lines per pge, I would save this for a 2year old+.

All children want reassurance that their parents' love runs wide and deep. In Guess How Much I Love You, a young rabbit named Little Nutbrown Hare thinks he's found a way to measure the boundaries of love. In a heartwarming twist on the "I-can-do-anything-you-can-do-better" theme, Little Nutbrown Hare goes through a series of declarations regarding the breadth of his love for Big Nutbrown Hare. But even when his feelings stretch as long as his arms, or as high as his hops, Little Nutbrown Hare is fondly one-upped by the elder rabbit's more expansive love.
Such a beautiful book! It's about a father and son telling each other how much they love one another... my son loves this book and tries to find creative ways to tell me he loves me.

This is my favorite book to read to my kids-our copy is pretty worn, it is just so sweet and cute. I highly recommend it, also a great gift for new parents to read to there baby.
A must have for every child!
I found this to be a sweet book with a message that a child will find reassuring. The parent is essentially saying, "I love you more than you can possibly imagine." The illustrations are done in warm, soothing colors. Great bedtime book.
Really good book. Helps express to children the ways in which we love and the degree to which that love is given. The pictures are quite lovely, as well.

This is a classic story for moms and dads to read to their little ones. I daddy rabbit gets into a "who loves whom the most" contest with his little bunny. It's a contest the daddy bunny is sure to win -- being that he's so much bigger and faster than the little bunny!
My grandchild really likes it.
The text is simple and sweet - perfect for a quick read with my 2yr old. And he loves imitating the baby bunny's movements. Also, the artwork is beautiful and wonderful for this age group.

This is a strong contender for my very favorite children's book! The story is so sweet, with a wonderful message about the love of a parent for his or her child (and vice versa).

My daughter and I read this book every night before bed-it is such a cute book,especially for ages 2-4.
This books corners were gnawed a bit by my daughter,but the book is in great conditon otherwise and not ruined where you can't read it.
