I own every book Julie Garwood has published and I love every one of them, especially Gardian Angel. She is a priate he is a Marquess, He thinks a priate killed his brother (who is very much alive). He falls in love with her and she falls in love with him. And the story begins.. A wonderful read, a must have......

From Publishers Weekly
Garwood fails here to integrate romance and mystery elements as effectively as she did in The Bride. There's too much heavy breathing in the book's first half, too many convoluted political intrigues in the second. The year is 1815. The Marquess of Cainewood, hunting London's slums for the pirate Pagan whom he assumes killed his brother, traps instead a seemingly despairing young woman named Jade, who seeks to hire Caine to commit a murder--her own. Caine offers her protection instead, little suspecting that she is Pagan and her real object is to stay close so that she and her followers can defend him: traitors in the War Office, who tried to slay her brother as well as his, may now be after Caine too. The couple's stormy romance gets off to an instant if ludicrously implausible start that very first night, when Caine wanders into Jade's bedroom and finds her uncovered and completely naked. By the time their respective brothers reappear and the pursuit begins for the renegades, it's much too late for the reader to take any serious interest in the villains or their tiresome schemes.

Oh how I love this book! It's a definite keeper for me that I bring out whenever I need a tried and true story to make me smile and to impress me with good characters and good love scenes.

Jade is taking Caine on a merry chase. Her motives are unclear as well as her end game. She's fed him lie after lie interspersed with some truth and he fell for it hook, line and sinker. Now Lyon and Christina (from [book:The Lion's Lady|107783] are involved. Of course, Christina is convinced that Jade is Caine's destiny and with the immediate attraction between them, there is really no doubt.
A wonderful tale of pirates, conspiracies and romance. Julie Garwood has another winner.

Love the characters and storylines of JG books. Rich flowing details with a fun romantic plot to keep you turning the pages. One of my fav's.
A beautiful herione who drives her hero to distraction.
terrific book keeps you reading
This book had a lot of possibility. Unfortunately, non-stop head-hopping between the characters (including many brief and unnecessary hops to minor characters for no good reason) ruined this book for me. I spent so much time trying to figure out whose point of view I was in that it kept pulling me out of the narrative. Otherwise, I would have given this book a four. Definitely not a keeper for me, and now I'm almost dreading reading the sequel if the head-hopping is as bad in that one as it is in this one.
If excessive head-hopping doesn't bother you, then you might enjoy this book a lot more than I did.

This is my favorite Garwood book. It's a historical romance with strong, fun characters and dialog that made me laugh at loud. It's one I keep on my shelf and re-read when I want to smile.
Fun escapist reading. Easy read.

One of my personal favorites, and definitely a re-read.
The Marquess of Cainewood is on a mission: he wants a man dead. He will stop at nothing until he avenges his brother's death, even if means waiting day after day for the wretched pirate who is responsible, to show his face and fall neatly in his trap. Caine is loyal, brave, handsome, and has a government war record that proves he is ruthless and cunning and always gets his man.
Jade is not a typical lady. Coming from a shady and mysterious background, she carries a huge burden of a secret. This auburn haired, green-eyed beauty keeps the Marquess guessing and confounded from the moment she accidentally steps into his trap and relies on Caine's over zealous need to help her. She tries to elude Caine's soft touches and whispers of love, but learns that it's a battle she cannot win.
Together, they get entwined in an adventure that brings them into each other's arms and begin a romance that is so unconventional, sexy, and at times, hysterical.
One of Garwood's best, i think.

Great Book! I just love the ones with the surprises in the plots!
Lots of drama and sneaky fun in this one. Typical Garwood, what you least expect.
The Marquess of Cainewood is after the Pirate Pagan who killed his brother, Colin, and is bent on exacting his revenge on the man. Little does he expect to find a beautiful woman mistaking HIM for the imfamous Pirate and even less does he expect to be shot at, beaten, and almost drowned after meeting her. As he starts to lose his heart to the firey red-head, he never expects the truth, which could easily destroy them both....
starts off promising, but the characters started to annoy me. first book i consciously decided not to finish.
Another great read from Garwood.
Great story.
Another great historical from Julie Garwood. Highly recommend!
New York Times bestselling author Julie Garwood takes breathless sensuality to thrilling heights in this unforgettable adventure of passion and intrigue.
The Emerald flew across the seas, carrying the pirate Pagan -- despised by the ton, whose riches he plundered, and beloved by the poor, whose plight was eased by his gifts.
The Marquess of Cainewood vows to hunt down the pirate wretch in revenge for his brother's death. But when Jade, an enchanting vision of rippling red hair and eyes of jewel-green, appears at his door to beg desperately for his protection, the Marquess agrees to keep her safe from the villains who want her dead. Jade is infuriating, exasperating, and gorgeous; Caine is noble, strong-willed, and powerful. No woman has ever befuddled him so, nor so deeply aroused his desire. But as Jade answers his knowing caresses with an innocent, wild abandon, they are drawn into a web of treachery that will test the very heart of their love!

Older copy so cover picture is different just to let you know. Great Garwood though. One of her older historical fiction one's. I've read it at least twice it's time to pass it on.
