Beware when the grim reaper comes for you...what failings in character will be your judgement?

Crowner John is busy preparing for the long awaited King's Justices, but is distracted as an unusual serial killer is loose in the city. It's evident from the carefully staged crime scenes that the culprit is literate and knowledgeable of the scriptures...the coroner's clerk, Thomas, has been indispensable in helping him interpret the crimes...hmmm? Would a rash jump to judgement be in order to satisfy the courts?

With all of our modern failings, a benefit is the protection of the accused especially when the alternative is considered. These may not be the most complex novel you'll ever read, but it keeps you guessing til the end and it certainly makes you appreciate your modern life.

This is yet another good mystery about the Crowner and his two assistants. The story ends with the three men bonding more as close friends, and at least one of them sees a possibility to achieve his heart's desire.
