Not my cup of tea, but there seems to be a lot of people who enjoyed it. There was a part where the main character was attacked by her estranged abusive x-husband & then her child wanted to go live with a friend that I did not care for because the child thought his mother wasn't helping clear his father (who had just attacked his mother) from a suspective murder trial.

I love Goldy the Caterer and think you will too. A very good read.

Mystery-wise, this was one of my favorites. Lots more suspects and questions floating around than usual so it was hard to figure out, and I never knew who did it until the end. I loved that there were so many complexities to it.
That being said, this was also not a favorite of mine. Goldy's son is totally obnoxious, whining to his mother that she MUST prove his dad innocent, even after the Jerk attacks Goldy yet again. Her relationship with her son grates on my nerves. She does anything and everything so he's never upset, no matter how close to breaking she is. The kid knows nothing about respect for his mother and this time I really wanted to throttle him. He's always sorry at the end, but he's not 10 anymore.
And for goodness sake, get a backbone, woman! Her customers treat her horribly, calling at 6 am and shrieking at her about grilled chicken, calling and hanging up on her over and over. Give me a break. I know you've got to keep calm to keep clients, but there's nothing wrong with setting limits. There just seemed to be a lot of overwrought, overemotional people screeching, screaming and shrieking in this book.
Like I said, the mystery was terrific, the food sounded divine, but how she handled her other problems this time was very off-putting and at times, to me, detracted from the story.

Davidson, known for her skillful writing and the mouth-watering recipes concocted by her series sleuth, Goldy Schulzas, serves up a tale of murder and love gone rotten.
A fun read!

Part of series, really good book. Part-comedy, part mystery, with a culinary twist.

This is the 7th Goldy Culinary mystery. I think the plot was perhaps a littel better developed than some of her earlier works - we had more suspects for the "whodunit" mystery of the book.
These books are fun, light reading & I like the characters. My only complaint is that sometimes there is a bit of a contrived feel to them and occasionally there are glimpses of poor editing, i.e., we'll have a detail crop up that didn't belong, or there will be an assumption that the reader was never privy to.
Nitpicky stuff, really ... I will certainly be reading the other books of this series ... they are fun & entertaining!

Mystery and food mix. Funny.
Number 7 in the series:
A chilly reception....
Caterer Goldy Schulz has been hired to host a hockey party. But the proceedings won't be all fun and games. Unfortunately, her client won't be satisfied until Goldy adds a hefty serving of revenge.
An ex-husband from hell....
Patricia McCracken is certain that her obstetrician and her penny-pinching HMO are responsible for the loss of her baby. Now she is suing both, and she wants Goldy's advice on coming out on top. For Dr. John Richard Korman, aka the Jerk, is none other than Goldy's abusive ex-husband. Goldy knows all about John Richard's secret life--but even she is shocked when he's arrested for the murder of his latest girlfriend.
A dish best served cold....
As much as Goldy would like to see her ex get his just desserts, could he really be a killer? Soon she will find herself sifting through a spicy mix of sizzling gossip for clues to a mystery that threatens her catering deadline, her relationship with her son and new husband... and even her life.

Diane Mott Davidson is an exceptional author and this installment of the Goldy series is perfect!
Food and mystery what a combination.
This is an interesting book. Includes recipes throughout.
Light mystery reading. Entertaining, and the recipes are an added bonus.

For Dr. John Richard Korman A.K.A. the JERK is Goldy's abusive ex-husband. Even Goldy is shocked when the Jerk is arrested for the murder of his latest girlfriend.

I enjoy the Goldie mysteries.
As I read each book in this series about Goldy Schultz, I grow more fond of the characters. In this book, Goldy's ex is suspected of killing his current girlfriend. For the sake of her son (who loves his father) Goldy tries to discover the truth. Her son does whine and complain a lot in this book and I am ready for him to "grow up" a little. Despite this, it is an exciting and fun read!
This writer is SO entertaining! If you like a good mystery, you can't go wrong with Diane Mott Davidson.
This series is so much fun! Mysteries & Recipes together!
I really love this series. The recipes sound great and the story is fun too.

A typical Goldy catering mystery where she just has to nose where she doesn't belong. An okay read.
Such a fun book to read! A mystery with lots of good recipes!
Have to be honest, this is probably my least favorite Goldy story. I got a bit lost and confused with all the talk of HMOs, etc. Just wasn't that interesting to me. Oh well, can't win 'em all! :)
Goldy has been hired to host a hockey party. Patricia McCracken is certain that her obstetrician and penny-pinching HMO are responsible for the loss of her baby...Goldy's ex husband is the OB....
If you love to cook (or eat) and you like campy mysteries, these books are great!
The Goldy Schulz murder mysteries add a delightful twist by including in Goldy's special catering recipies. Each book in this series is a pleasurable read.
Caterer Goldy Schulz has been hired to host a hockey party. But the proceedings won't be fun and games. Unfortunately, her client won't be satisfied until Goldy adds a hefty serving of revenge.
As good as all the "Goldie" books. Goldie may at last get her revenge of her abusive ex husband as he is taken into custody for the murder of his current girlfriend! Don't forget the tasty recipes! (I only have three "Goldie" books left to catch up with them all!)
Great, as always.
I sat down and read this book straight through. I really enjoyed it.
Having fun with your ex? And a murder/mystery? And great recipes? A must read!
Loved this book as I have all the others in this series about a caterer that is always getting involved with and solving murder cases.
This is the 7th book in the series.
