Anne Rule is the best of true crime writers. This book is long but interesting. Lots of info regarding how murderers are hunted down with
clues they left behind unknowingly.

This has been made into a TV movie now is your chance to read the book and compare it to the movie.

Amazing! She lived within miles of a serial killer, and he even came to her book signings! This case was an eye opener for Ann Rule and it shows in her writing. I loved it!

From front cover: The Real Story of the Green River Killer--America's Deadliest Serial Murderer.

From Back Cover:

"Riveting"--People

"...conveys the emotional truth of the Green River Case"--Los Angeles Times.

In her most personal and provocative book to date, the #1 bestselling master of true crime presents "her long-awaited definitive narrative of the brutal and senseless crimes that haunted the Seattle area for decades" (Publishers Weekly). This is the extraordinary true story of the most prolific serial killer the nation had ever seen--a case involving more than forty-nine female victims, two decades of intense investigative work...and one unrelenting killer who not only attended Ann Rule's book signings but lived less than a mile away from her home.

"Perhaps Rule's finest work."--Statesman Journal (OR)

This was a very hard book for me to read. My niece was one of the victims. The book gave a lot of information on the victims, ridgeway, and the investigation. Unfortunately, as far as I know, she never spoke to anyone in our family. If she had she would have had a better understanding of what drove Colleen to be the way she was.

Anyone interested in serial killers, or true crime, should find this a very good read.

Ann Rule humanizes the 48 (more?) victims of the horrible Green River Killer and also tells Gary Ridgeway's pathetic story. He was abused as a child but not all abused kids grow up to be such heartless serial killers!

This book got very repetitive with each victim. Although it is a true story and it is nice that Rule gave each one a face, they were so similar that they blended together.

Ann Rule writes in detail about the horrific crime spree of the Green River killer. It includes multiple photographs, and inside information about the cases. A heavy, thick paperback but worth the time it takes to read it. A must-read for the true crime fan.

Her best book yet. Ann Rule's narrative of the brutal and senseless crimes that haunted the Seattle area for decades. This is the extraordinary true story of the most prolific serial killer the nation had ever seen-a case involving more than 49 female victims, two decades of intense investigative work and one unrelenting killer who not only attended Ann Rule's book signings but lived less than one mile away from her home.

I couldn't put the book down. It's a long read 661 pages...but it keeps you turning the pages to find out what's happening next!!

Wow this is just crazy how someone can appear so normal yet be so demented. I think this is a good read although it kept me up many nights just trying to figure out how someone could be so messed up. I like that Ann gives them all a name, story and gives credit to all the task force.

not one of her better books. would have benefited by ruthless editing. was probably 2 to 3 times longer than it needed to be, packed as it was with endless detail that did little to enhance the story. it would also have been helpful to learn more about gary ridgway himself and less about the endless investigation.

Title tells exactly what this book is about - Gary Ridgway, the Green River Killer, was found guilty of at least 38 deaths of women during the 1980's. This is the story of his victims and the monster who took their lives

This is a very long, involved account on a very long, involved investigation. Ann Rule covers this horrific crime in a way that acknowledges the victims in a special way and offers insight into the mind of a killer. Brings you right into the neighborhood where it all happened. One of my favorite Ann Rule books - although they are all worth reading.

Ann Rule writes the account of the Green River Killer very well. Back stories on most of the victims are provided as well and, despite its vast amount of pages, it is a fast read...you can't put this book down!

As I read this book, I was appalled at how easy the Green River killer was able to get away for as long as he did with the killing. Shocking but hard to put down.

I love Ann Rule, but I could not get into this book. I gave up. It was too slow moving and bogged down with too much detail, in my opinion. Not one of her best.

I couldn' put this book down. As usual Ann Rule writes another excellent true crime book, with only a style she can add. This book will leave you with compassion for the victims and families, and amazement at how the GRK got away with it for so long.

Green River, Running Red is a harrowing account of a modern monster, a killer who walked among us undetected. It is also the story of his quarryof who these young women were and who they might have become. A chilling look at the darkest side of human nature, this is the most important and most personal audiobook of Ann Rule's long career.

Even though I followed this story on the television, etc. Ann Rule more than does justice to the background of the victims and the story itself. I think it's a masterpiece.

It was not one of her best but if someone is interested specifically in the Green River Killer then it is worth the read. Rather complicated with lots of names and dates but she does give the whole story.

I waited for a long time for this book and it exceeded my expectations. Although Ann Rule delved into Ridgeways psyche as much as anyone could, the main focus was on Ridgeway's victims. The research and volumes of information Ms. Rule put into this book is astounding. Since I read this book my heart goes out to the families of the victims and also Gary Ridgeway's family, esp his son, even more than when I heard about the murders on the news. Unfortunately evil will always exist, but we can try our best to learn lessons to prevent history (like this) from repeating itself and that's really what Ann Rule's books are all about.

Typical Ann Rule and very good. I get a little bored with her long-winded descriptions of the people in her books but basically, she's a good read and this one is another one that will be hard to put down for anyone who followed the Ridgeway trial. Good insights into what makes him tick. Scary!

I know I am not supposed to comment on condition of books, but I cannot misrepresent what I have. This is a hardback book without the dust jacket. It is a compelling story about the Green River murders south of Seattle. A great book.
