I've not seen the movie, but the novel is complex and rewarding. It does address some of the tough issues surrounding incarceration and the death penalty. That's okay, the issue is addressed from many sides and is enlightening.

Better than the movie. I am not much of a Steven King fan, but this book I did not want to put down.

I've read a few Stephen King novels and this was my favorite, by far.

The year is 1932, the place is E Block for convicted killers on death row.
This is one of Kings Best Stories, and I'm sure there are very few who do not know it.
It's about the guards and inmates and a mouse called jingles. A huge black man called John Coffey with special powers.
If you haven't seen the movie you must read the book, I read it after I saw the movie. This is a must read.....

One of the greatest books I have ever read. You love the charcters or you really hate them, but you feel something for every charcter involved, including the loveable little mouse Mr.Jingles.

Really good, explains a lot more than the movie, the description of the characters and how humans react in certain situations is very interesting.

There is a reason why Stephen King is so popular. Sure, he's had a few missteps but when King is on top of his game, he is quite simply one of the best. He has an uncanny ability to create characters who live and breathe. Even when I dislike the overall plot lines, I am drawn to King's works because the characters are so inviting and the experiences they have are so human. King makes this look easy, which I'm sure it isn't...I highly recommend it to fans and non-fans alike.

This book was fantastic, I was surprised it was Stephen King, given that it isn't his usual scary stuff. I loved this book

Love this book. Actually the only one of Stephen King's books I was able to read. The movie was good, but all in all, the book is always better.

Very unusual book by Stehpen King. If you like King you will like this

The book is perhaps more suspenseful than the movie. The charters are more fully drawn and every book is harder to read as you are drawn more fully into the horror of The Green Mile.
