I read this book many years ago. A co-worker lent it to me, even though I really didn't want to read it at the time. I am so glad I did read it. This book includes some wonderful stories. Heartwarming, tear-jerking, happy, sad - it's all here. A very good read.

It was a very good sequel to "The Greatest Generation" ... full of letters and more stories which Brokaw received after the publication of his first book. It could continue on and on with so many stories. I don't think I would ever tire of hearing. This generation has been quiet for so long about their experiences going through the depression and WWII. It's good to finally hear the stories and attempt to understand what happened and what these wonderful people went through during that difficult time.

A moving tribute to those who served our country both overseas and at home during World War II, this book chronicles wonderful stories that should help us greater appreciate our country today.
I thought it would have more letters. That portion of the book was fascinating and moving to me. I still would recommend it to anyone who would like firsthand accounts of being away from loved ones... from the soldier and from the families' points of view.

Some of the stories brought tears to my eyes. The men and women who lived, fought and died in WWII were truly the "Greatest Generation" of Americans that ever were.

Very good followup to Brokaw's book "The Greatest Generation". This book contains submissions from readers throughout the country who read the first book and wanted to write to Mr Brokaw,sometimes including personal letters written by family members during WW II. Also are accounts of personal meetings and planned reunions. Where the first book contained bios on some more famous personalities of the war this book is everyday common folks getting their stories put in print. an excellent commentary on some of the lessor known stories of WW II. You'll not be disappointed if you read this book.
