For almost 20 years, Simon Jenkins has been writing about pubs and beer for the Yorkshire Evening Post. In the meantime he has held down a number of different roles on the paper from restaurant,TV and theatre critic to sub-editor and page designer. At various times he has also written for the Goole Chronicle, Selby Times, the Leeds United Newspaper, Halifax Evening Courier, Yorkshire Post ? and contributed articles for publications as varied as the New Statesman and theTesco magazine. In 2006, Simon joined the press office at the University of Leeds, but continues to contribute hisTaverner column to the YEP everyThursday. Over the past 15 years, Simon has won numerous awards from the British Guild of BeerWriters, including their highest accolade, British BeerWriter of theYear, in 2010. In his spare time he follows the varied fortunes of both Leeds United and Oxford United, he runs kids? football training at theYorkshire Post Sports Club in Headingley, and is on the board of governors at a local primary school.And despite his love of beers from all over the world, he occasionally likes a glass of red wine too.
