Robert Jordan goes into much detail about the characters and environment in all of his books. While this helps bring the story to life, I began to find it a bit overwhelming by the time I finished this one. What kept me interested was the intriguing story line. My advice: If you're looking for a quick read that you don't have to think about, don't choose any of Jordan's books. But if you've got the time and want a story with a whole world brought to life through vivid detail, this is it!

Wow. I couldn't finish reading this...I was so disappointed but it just dragged and dragged and then I had another book from PBS come in and well, I just couldn't justify forcing myself to read something that I just couldn't get into(even though I felt obligated cuz it's supposed to be this amazing series). I just have so many other books calling my name waiting for me to pick them up....
I went about 200 pages in, and still lots interest.... Book one was great, so maybe I will pick this up and start over some other time...

The great storyline from the 1st book continues in the second book. Surprises and new characters are also a plus! Worth the read!
Engrossing read. I hated to put it down and am looking forward the rest of this series!
The first book of this series was enough to get me interested, but it was kind of confusing. This book was just -- great!!! I cannot read these books fast enough!!!

By book two you are very much into the characters and it is a great series.
This is the second book in Robert Jordan's excellent Wheel of Time series. If you love epic fantasy, this is the series for you.

I didn't really like this book, but you have to read it to continue the series. The books after it are good, so it was worthwhile.

The series begins to pick up speed here. This is by far one of the best of the 11 books to this series.
I have read all of Jordan The Wheel of Time Series and I can say that these are the greatest books. Sometimes in the first chapter or two it is slow going, (especially if it has been some time since you have read the series) but when it picks up it picks up and you can't put the books down. And these are fat books! lol. This book The Great Hunt introduces a character or two that remains with the whole series. You see the growth in his characters. I just love these books. Strong women. Better that Book 1! A lot more action, more elements added to the story line, and Jordan adds more detail to the world the characters live it.
This whole series is a mash-up of every tale ever told. This one is based on the quest for the grail and has Arthurian overtones. Fun but a little slow.

This book, the 2nd in the series, actually piqued my interest more than the 1st book did. While I found the 1st book, The Eye of the World, to be a decent read, I found this book way more interesting. Some of the early chapters are a bit slow, but it picked up momentum, so much that I actually decided to buy the next 2 books in the series rather than just getting one at a time.

I have to say I wasn't as pleased with this one as I was with the eye of the world. But it was still a pretty nicely written book.
