Great novel about a southern lawyer who takes a case against his better judgement, and it changes his life. While the content and style are a bit like John Grisham's novels, I found this even more riveting. Human rights abuses in China, the greed-driven corporate executives, and the small-town hardscrabble South were all well portrayed. A few "coincidences" were a bit far fetched, but in light of the entire work, can be forgiven. A very good read!

Excellent read! This is the first book I've read from Mr. Bunn and really delves into the court system, the government system and foreign governments. I did not want to put it down because I wanted to know the final result...

I am in the process of reading this book. It was a slow start but it is really picking up now.

This is about Marcus Greenwood who is a lost lawyer who goes back home after a nasty divorce. He is approached by a family to help them sue a big sporting goods company because their daughter has disappeared while investigating the company.
