Wow!! This is a wonderfully powerful story has totally swept me into it's pages. Lisa Bergren has written a novel that pulls you every which way while immersing you into a different time period and culture. This is the second in a series and I would urge you to read them in order, mainly so you know what is going on. Most of it can be figured out but it might be easier to keep characters straight.
Personally I fell in love with Cora. She is put in a hard spot at a time in her life where she needs her family. Only everything she knows is not as it seems. Or is it? Not only is her family taken away and replaced with a new one, but she must found out what she is really made of. Is the fancy, regal, posh life hers? Or is she more ready to go home and spend her life as a school-teacher in her little country town? These are just some of the questions and struggles Cora goes through as you read this novel. Oh, and don't forget her little romance problems too. These greatly mirror her other struggles as she continues her grand tour.
This is a wonderful book that I had no personal problems with. If put in the same position I think I would come to the same conclusions that Cora does. Which I am not going to tell you so you have to go get the book. Ha!! Actually there are sweet parts, a bit of mystery thrown in and a story of a life that has its ups and downs. I so cannot wait for the next book and probably the last. This will hopefully clear up any loose threads left hanging while I also hope to hear more about Cora, Will, Pierre and the rest of the Kensington and Morgan clan. I do have to say, I didn't much like Hugh throughout most of the story, but there comes a turning point where I actually understood more of him and his struggles as well. We all may be different on the outside than we really want to be. How true this is for many of us. Excellent book Lisa!!

The Grand Tour of Europe continues in Grave Consequences, by Lisa t. Bergren. This is a very interesting story filled with beautiful and exciting locales, and a little mystery and intrigue as Cora finds her way and her place in her new, wealthy family. Highly recommended!
