Very hard to put this book down. Read this book to find out what really happens on a daily basis to the men and women at war. It will give you a better understanding as to why soldiers who come back are often never the same.

Liked this book far more than I expected to. It reads as true as a photograph. The author's personal feelings are submerged and he does a good job of keeping the book from reflecting or portraying his own courage in participating in the situation in Iraq. The portraits of soldiers are both moving and truthful, and glimpses of what effect this war has on the families back home are also spot on. There really wasn't a false or contrived moment in the book. I felt it represented some truly hard work on the part of the author to gather this much info and to present it so openly. It allows the reader to form their own impressions.

Every member of Congress should be forced to read this book. Although it deals with the war in Iraq, the descriptions of the combat conditions and the impact on the soldiers has to be the same. This book is an account by an imbedded reporter of one units actual experiences during a tour of duty in Baghdad, how they planned to help the locals, and how they grew to hate the locals as their casualties mounted.

Offered great insight into what is happening in Iraq and also a glimpse into life for the families of the soldiers.
