Good Soldier
Author: Ford Madox Ford
Ford Madox Ford wrote The Good Soldier, the book on which his reputation most surely rests, in deliberate emulation of the nineteenth-century French novels he so admired. In this way he was able to explore the theme of sexual betrayal and its poisonous after-effects with a psychological intimacy as yet unknown in the English novel.

If you ever think, "what happened to the days when people had morals," or you wonder if we've made progress in relationships, this book will make you wonder how anyone ever stayed married. At least how any rich, idle people stayed married. Very interesting. I'm sure it will stay with me. I'm glad I read it.
