I am a fan of Downing's writing. Each book she has released has been different from the others but always clever and wicked fun. She is good at creating despicable, dysfunctional and even diabolical characters. I also find them irresistible! She keeps me turning the pages to see how it will all play out and it's always a twisty, surprising journey to the end. This was good reading and I look forward to whatever she comes up with next!
Teddy Crutcher has been named Teacher of the Year at the prestigious Belmont Academy. Teddy challenges his students to be the best they can be. After all, their parents are paying for an expensive education that will get them into the best colleges and universities. Teddy is not a favorite among the students. He sometimes uses unconventional methods to get his point across. And when people interfere with his methods...look out.
I heard about this book a couple of months ago and thought it may be something I'd like to read. Now that I've read it, I still don't know what to think of it. Most of the characters were very unlikeable, especially Teddy. Nearly all of them had some type of agenda like wanting their child's grade changed or revenge for a badly written reference letter. Teddy was a psychopath who wouldn't stop until he got everything he wanted.
What I liked about this story was the twists and turns, most of which I certainly didn't see coming. I was actually shocked at one point when a certain character died. I couldn't even guess where the story was going or how it was going to end. My rating: 4 Stars.

A pretty good who dun it,. I found I really disliked most of the characters, good and bad ones. They were either rich snobs, overeducated snobs, or just annoying. But the story is good, keeps you guessing all along. Having worked at a private school once upon a time, some of the teachers, many of the students and most of the parents in this book rang true.
