I found this to be an engrossing read. I especially enjoy police procedurals set in countries other than my own USA and reading one set in Wales was a first for me. I thoroughly recommend this to readers who enjoy English, Swedish, German, Russian, etc., detective novels. As if having an Italian name in Wales doesn't make DS Capaldi enough of an outsider, he's been booted from the Cardiff force for being embroiled in a police scandal there. His punishment is a posting in deeply rural Wales where he is treated with suspicion by his bosses, disrespect by his fellow officers, and outright obstruction by the locals. Capaldi even lives in an old mobile home to symbolize his belief that he has no intention of being there for long. Imagine the result when he suspects a murderous conspiracy among some of the village's most prominent "good people."
